Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities recently hosted Writers Resist: All Our Voices Matter, an event designed to celebrate diversity and recognize literature as a tool for social change. Faculty, students, and community members read their own work or the work of other authors addressing topics such as mental health, politics, and identity. The event was one of over 100 similar readings held across the country that were modeled after the flagship Writers Resist event, which took place in New York City on January 15. read more more
(From ABC27.com) Vets get scholarship money for PSU Harrisburg MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Some military veterans attending Penn State Harrisburg are getting a financial salute from local Rotarians. At a recent Carlisle meeting, the Rotary Veterans Initiative donated $25,000 to cover textbooks and tuition for military veterans attending the Penn State campus near Middletown. Thirty-eight vets will benefit from the donation which is run through the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. read more more
Dr. Jennifer Chambers, a 2016 Penn State Alumni Fellow, 1990 MBA graduate of Penn State Harrisburg, and a 1995 graduate of the Penn State College of Medicine, and her husband, Michael, recently expressed their passion for supporting students with disabilities after learning about the college’s relationship with the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation. Based in Princeton, New Jersey, the foundation has generously supported Penn State for over 30 years, providing scholarships for students with disabilities. read more more
