Interstate 83 work scheduled on Sunday morning for John Harris Bridge over Susquehanna

Posted

Between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dauphin County maintenance crews will close the right lane of northbound Interstate 83 and conduct bridge deck repair work on the John Harris Bridge over the Susquehanna River at Exit 43 for 2nd Street in the city of Harrisburg.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation advises motorists that to prevent traffic from encroaching into the work zone, crews will also close the northbound I-83 Exit 43 ramp for 2nd Street. During the ramp closure, a detour will direct motorists to use Exit 44-A for 13th Street to Paxton Street to 2nd Street.

This section of northbound I-83 averages 48,300 vehicles traveled daily. To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route.

For more information on projects occurring or being bid this year, those made possible by or accelerated by the state transportation funding plan (Act 89), or those on the department’s Four and Twelve Year Plans, visit www.projects.penndot.gov.
