The Middletown field hockey team dropped its season opener to East Pennsboro, 11-0 on Thursday.

“This game was a wakeup call for the team,” head coach Jana Woodring said in an email. “It was our first game and it was against a tough team. We will regroup, learn from our mistakes and move on. Key players today were Kiera Guckavan and Paige Burger. We have a very small team and are limited to subs. These girls deserve credit for not giving up. It is hard to play against fresh legs.”

The Raiders faced off against Lebanon on Monday, Sept. 11 and Bishop McDevitt on Tuesday, Sept. 12. On Thursday, Sept. 14, Middletown will play host to Milton Hershey at 4 p.m.
